San Francisco Area  

     Version 1 of The Molecules played in every kind of venue imaginable. From large clubs to house parties, record stores, dive bars, restaurants, art galleries and the 2nd Bay Ares Improvised Music Festival. They averaged about two shows per month. Here is a list of some of the clubs they performed in those years.

San Francisco Area

   Chris Millner left right after the 94 European tour. After several months Ryo replaced Chris on bass. The Molecules continued to play the same clubs in the Bay Area, plus a few new ones where added.

  Japan Winter 1995

       During this tour The Molecules got to perform with some of their favorite Japanese bands, Ruins, Omoide Hatoba, Kirihito, Coa. There was also a duet set of music with Ron Anderson and Yoshida Tatsuya in Kyoto, a trio with Ron Anderson, Yoshida Tatsuya and Seiichi Yamamoto in Osaka. The Molecules and Ruins did an improvisation set in Tokyo at Show Boat. At La Mama in  Tokyo, The Molecules invited Otomo Yoshihide on stage for an improvisation. Ron Anderson and Yoshida Tatsuya also played together at a small Jazz club in the outskirts of Tokyo. Some of the music from that night can be found on the A Is For An Accident CD. (see catalog)

Bottom of the Hill, San Francisco 1997

      After the tour of Japan, The Molecules had planed to work on  new material for the next CD, and to set up a tour of Europe. When Ryo was denied permission  to enter the United  States by U. S. customs, he was replaced by John Shiurba.  The Molecules continued to play locally and in 1996 did a short Northwest tour with Melt Banana. The Molecules continued with recording work on their never released triple CD until June of 1998 when Ron departed to live in Europe and then New York City.

No shit!  Ron made a stop over in San Francisco on the way to Tokyo (Ronruins tour), do a concert with The Molecules.  (Ron Anderson, Tom Scandura, John Shiurba) Jump to January of 2007 a new CD/DVD release called Friends this is a best of the unreleased triple CD and a DVD history of performance from all 3 versions of the band.  February 2007 West coast tour San Francisco to Vancouver. May of 2007 European tour.
